BEACON in the News

Listen: BEACON Hurricane Milton

In partnership with the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications, BEACON was tested during one of the most devastating hurricane seasons in Florida history.  The leaders at the college's media properties captured ongoing updates and emergency communications from the Florida Division of Emergency Management officials in the field to ensure the most up-to-date information was being delivered via BEACON.  During this test, as Hurricane Milton made landfall along the west coast of Florida, BEACON prioritized more than 4,000 alerts from multiple state agencies and immediately broadcast the content via a live stream from UF's 89.1FM, WUFT-HD4 in Gainesville.
